Volcano in Southern Peru Starts Spitting Out Ash

LIMA, Peru–Peru’s most active volcano has started to spit out ash, prompting the government to move into a state of alert.

The Ubinas volcano in southern Peru has recorded six explosions in the last few days due to overheated steam formed from an accumulation of snow in the crater, government officials said.

The Ubinas volcano is located in the Moquegua region 70 kilometers from the city of Arequipa.
